We’ve been in Dallas for almost a year. And while I feel like we have succeeded at making our house a home, we have taken a bit longer to explore our new city. We’ve had a few visitors the last few weeks which meant we really had to hone our list of our favorite spots. It will surely grow as we explore even more, but as of right now here are the things to do, and places to be that we are currently loving!
Drink-- Bowen House-- great for cocktails! Try letting the bartender come up with an off-menu concoction just for you!, Braindead Brewery-- great selection of beers! My fave is the Prairie Bomb, The Grapevine-- a great dive with solid drinks.
Eat-- La Paisitana-- a no-frills taqueria with delicious and authentic adobada tacos. Cafe Momentum-- A knock-your-socks off meal that also helps support at-risk youths, Keller’s Hamburgers-- an old school drive-in burger joint. Enjoy a delicious burger, fries and a beer in your car! Make sure to check out the true drive-in version on Northwest Highway. Joe T's-- while not in Dallas, this Forth Worth icon is worth the drive. The margs are strong and the novelty of only having two things on the menu never gets old.
See: The JFK Memorial and The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza-- the museum had a lot of great information and I learned a lot, but I think just walking around the infamous intersection and standing on the grassy knoll is pretty powerful. The Katy Trail-- a stretch of nature that runs through the middle of the city. Great for an afternoon jog. A local high school football game-- live those Friday Night Lights and catch a local high school football game. The Allen Eagles are a championship winning team that play in a multi-million dollar stadium. Make sure to stay in your seats for the half time show as well, the band, cheerleaders, dance team and kick line are all as impressive in what they do as the football team is.
What are your fave places to eat at, drink at and see while you are in Dallas?
