I am a firm believer that you should never arrive for a dinner party or a weekend at a friend’s house empty-handed. I enjoy showing my appreciation for my host or hostess’ generosity with a small gift and recently I have been trying to up my host/hostess gift game. Here are five presents I plan to try out in the coming months when the weather is nicer, and weekends at friend’s houses and dinner parties in friend’s backyards will be abounding!
Not Flowers-- A bouquet of flowers is a beautiful gesture, but they die. Instead head to your local florist or grocery store and pick up a small potted plant! They show the same gratitude, don’t cost any more than a bouquet, and are easy for your host to maintain. Especially if you go the trendy route with a succulent!
Candy-- Put together a small basket of some of the your host’s favorite candy. Nothing expresses how sweet you think they are than candy!
Breakfast in a Basket- After hosting an epic party, the last thing your host wants to think about is breakfast the next morning. Grab a bag of muffin mix from your favorite bakery, and a bag of coffee from your favorite coffee house. Your host will be so appreciative the next morning when their heads are pounding and they are swearing to never host a party again!
Movie Night-- Who doesn’t love a cozy night in? Give that to your host by combining their favorite candy with a bag of microwaveable popcorn!
A Night on the Town-- When your friends entertain you for a whole weekend they deserve a bit more than a bouquet of flowers or bottle of wine. Find out their favorite local restaurant and grab them a gift card!
There are endless possibilities when it comes to host/hostess gifts. I’d love to hear what you have given to your friends or family when they have hosted you!
